Today it was Sun watching day in the Netherlands and Belgium, organised by the Dutch and Belgian royal astronomical societies. Our observatory was open to the public and we received 21 visitors (22 if we include the youngest of 6 months) between 10:30 and 20:00. This morning started with a 50% cloud cover, but with exceptional seeing and good transparency. Thin stratus crept in during the morning hours and thickened during the first half hour of the afternoon. With the sun blocked by trees in the early hours I had to rush though to get my drawing done before the first visitors arrived.
